ASAM Criteria Training Set
The American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) Criteria Training Set is designed to equip substance use service providers with knowledge and practical skills to utilize the ASAM Criteria (3rd Edition) to conduct assessment and develop a plan of care in substance use services.
The ASAM Criteria 3rd Edition Training Set contains the two (2) required trainings for substance use service providers prior to providing reimbursable DMC-ODS treatment services in LA County: (1) Understanding the ASAM Criteria in the Context of the California Treatment System (ASAM-A), and (2) Understanding the ASAM Criteria Action from Assessment to Treatment Planning (ASAM-B).

Medications for Addiction Treatment (MAT) for Alcohol and Opioid Use Disorders
This training provides participants with a detailed overview of FDA-approved medications that are available to treat alcohol, opioid, and tobacco use disorders within the Los Angeles County SAPC treatment network. Medications including buprenorphine, methadone, naloxone, naltrexone, acamprosate, disulfiram, bupropion, varenicline, and nicotine replacement therapy are explored. This training covers the benefits and mechanisms of action for each medication, so that substance use disorder (SUD) treatment workforce members can better utilize MAT services for their patients. Stigma and health disparities associated with MAT are explored and strategies to overcome stigma are examined. The training concludes with identifying and applying best practices in making MAT referrals.
